Seeking sustainable freshness and flavour ?
OTU Estate Sauvignon Blanc delivers freshness & flavour like no other
OTU Estate is uniquely positioned in the coastal Otuwhero/Blind River sub-region of the Awatere, the coolest and driest sub-region of Marlborough. Long sunshine hours, low rainfall and persistent coastal winds create small berries with exceptional concentration, while the dramatic diurnal shifts preserve natural acidity and precision.
The result in our Sauvignon Blanc is a distinctive saline edge, pronounced minerality and intense tropical fruit expression. It’s a tighter, more structural style — delivering clarity, drive and length — offering a sub-regional point of difference within Marlborough’s broader Sauvignon Blanc category
Our Otu Estate is 3 vineyard blocks in a single terroir on the windswept wild coast in the Awatere Valley which is cooler, windier and drier than the main Wairau Valley of Marlborough.
The presence of marine sediments in the estate soils contribute to the saline minerality of our wine, while the gravelly substrates ensure excellent drainage. This combination of ancient seabed origins and dynamic soil layering creates a terroir that is both challenging and rewarding.
The Otu Estate wine style is all about drinkability, where the second glass is as enjoyable as the first, and the wine is sustainably crafted with food matching in mind. It makes a perfect pairing for sustainable seafood, chicken, or vegetarian dishes.

Leading Female Winemaker
Rising star and leading female winemaker – Anna Remond is crafting vibrant, fruit forward Sauvignon Blanc, showcasing the beautiful salinity unique to our Estate’s coastal Awatere Marlborough location.
A Winemaker for 19 years in Marlborough, Anna previously headed up the white wine making program for one of New Zealand’s largest wineries and additionally, has worked vintages in the French regions of Sancerre and Burgundy. A devotee of the variety, Anna loves Sauvignon Blanc for its honesty - it is a grape that perfectly translates the vineyard site and iconic Marlborough terroir into a vibrant and fruit-forward experience.
"For Sauvignon Blanc, my approach is to harvest the fruit from our unique coastal location when the flavours and freshness are in balance. By capturing this precise moment, I aim to translate the energy of the Coastal Awatere Valley into the bottle - preserving the vibrant fruit intensity and signature minerality with minimal intervention"
Proficient in French as a second language, Anna is also passionate about teamwork, mentoring and sustainability – while actively managing a lifestyle block with sustainable practices with her husband and young family, in Marlborough.
Additionally, Anna is a mentor for the Women in Wine Programme, supporting women to develop their Winemaking careers and reach their full potential in Marlborough, here in New Zealand, and continues to forge a leadership path for women in winemaking overall.
We are so proud to call her our own.

Certified Sustainable - Vegan Friendly Wines
Sustainability is about caring for the future, based on what we do today.
So here is what we are doing today:
Water conversation - We only use water as needed through carefully monitored drip irrigation and that water used is taken from the river at high flow times in winter and stored in our reservoirs for use in the summer months.
Wine Packaging - All our packaging is recyclable, 60-75% of our bottle is made from recycled glass and is lighter in weight, and our label paper & cartons are sourced only from recycled or renewable sources.
100% Certified Sustainable Wines - Annual Sustainability Certification focuses on 6 key areas of continual improvement: Water conversation, Waste reduction, Soil health, Decarbonisation, Vine protection, and People. Our vineyards have been certified sustainable for 15+ years.
